Quality monitoring visit at the mid-point of project LEADS strengthens cooperation between Riga Technical University and Algerian partners
As part of the LEADS project’s ongoing commitment to quality assurance, Karlis Valtins (Head of International Projects Unit) and Aleksis Valdis Siksnis (Project manager) from Riga Technical University (RTU) conducted a quality monitoring visit to Université Abdelhamid Ibn Badis de Mostaganem, Algeria, from 29 June to 3 July 2025.
On 29 June 2025, a key focus group meeting took place at the University of Mostaganem, bringing together representatives from five Algerian partner universities involved in the LEADS project (University of Mostaganem, Djilali Liabes University – Sidi Bel Abbes, Badji Mokhtar University – Annaba, Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urbanism, Lounici Ali University – Blida 2). The session was moderated by the RTU team and served as a platform for open dialogue on the project’s progress, implementation challenges, and quality of results. The discussion formed an integral part of the internal quality monitoring process, feeding directly into the preparation of the first quality monitoring report. The session enabled partners to reflect critically on their contributions, share experiences, and identify areas for improvement. RTU’s representatives facilitated the session, gathered structured feedback, and ensured that all perspectives were captured. Due to scheduling limitations, a separate online meeting was held with representatives of the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique and Université 8 Mai 1945 de Guelma.
This quality-focused visit underscores the project’s emphasis on collaborative evaluation, transparency, and continuous improvement. It also highlights the strong partnership between EU and Algerian institutions working together to enhance certification systems and promote innovative practices in higher education.
